The title of the work should not be taken literally, but more in a philosophical, polysemic, way. This extended piano cycle is full of musical quotations of other composers and folk music, seldom discernible, leading to a subliminally incorporated ... See full review

A marvelous and insightful construction of a piano recital by Italian pianist Marino Formenti. His recorded recital Kurtag's Ghosts is also well worth investigating. For more 'composed' piano programs try also the Belgian Jan Michiels.

Some slight frailties of the tenor voice, the unstable resonances of the Graf pianoforte, as well as the moderate acoustic reverberation (the recording was made in a church), all these factors match well with the sensations of unrest and emptiness, ... See full review

On the tune "My Funny Valentine", the reduced quartet format and the live context enabled Bill Evans to perform an extended, harmonically rich and sophisticated solo construction, with coloristic (I'd say 'impressionistic') tones, letting the piano ... See full review

On the liner notes of this album George Russell describes the music as "a view of the entire musical scene of today, synthesizing elements of pop, rock, avant-garde jazz and neo-classic 'new music'".

"Event II" appears close to the "Bitches Brew" ... See full review
