On the cover of Souljacker sees singer/composer E out as an old neglected Bachelor with beard, dressed in a worn jacket. He would on this album still introverted, intrusive and beschouwender sound like on the first three? That doesn't seem to be that way. Souljacker sounds more exciting and more varied than Eels has ever sounded. Responsible for this is perhaps that producer John Parish with diverse acts deals such as PJ Harvey, 16 horsepower, Goldfrapp and our own Bettie Serveert. The tone of the album is sometimes heavy put on (that's Not really Funny), at the following number (Fresh Feeling) correct light-footed and melancholy to sound. So tacks between two extremes, Souljacker by exciting and exhilarating (Souljacker Part 1) to quiet and calm (Friendly Ghost). It seems that E are sadness and depression to the death of his sister and his mother (the Red wire on the previous albums) to overcoming is which there is space for new things. That provides a varied album, with as personal favorites Bus Stop Boxer and Woman Driving Man sleeping..

A full album capturing the grit and the punches of "Dog Faced Boy" and "Souljacker, Pt. 1" would be wonderful.
