Description Abstract: This program featured the music of Cecil Taylor (b. March 1929). A pianist and poet, Taylor created a form of jazz referred to as “free jazz” and played the piano with a percussionist style. His group called The Unit included saxophonist, Jimmy Lyons and drummer, Andrew Cyrille. The group played a number of pieces from their albums “Unit Structures” and “Conquistador!” both produced by Blue Note Records in 1966.
